Chicken & Electricity

I have been looking at the diy wind power webpages and it seems to be a nice way to generate electricity if you have a site with moderate wind. That combined with solar power and strict planning on the electric device side (eliminate devices that are not needed, for example use the same screen for computer stuff and tv)

Chickens are a must! Having fresh eggs should be nice. They also will provide you with natural fertilizers.

A house should offer shade on a sunny day.

What I would like to see on Project Dreamhouse aka my dream house

I don’t like living in modern houses which are mostly cubes made of layers of wood sheets of some sort stuck on a framing. My house will not be a cube.

I want the acoustics and background noises of my house to be pleasing to my ear. It’s weird that the way a room sounds, effects our behavior. My house should be quiet, with a soothing ambient sound track playing in the background so quietly, you really almost can’t hear it.

My house will use minimal electricity. It will not be powered by the main grid. I have no idea how (probably a combination of different techniques) it will be done yet.

It will a place of rest and quietness.

Why is Project Dreamhouse better than X?

Project Dreamhouse isn’t searching for a one-size-fits-all solution. It is about building a community of people with expertise in different skills. We aren’t here to guide users step-by-step. We want to bring the people together. Let them give and receive help to each other.

I encourage you to get to know the people who hang on the irc channel. This is the foundation of the whole project.

What Project Dreamhouse isn’t

• a hit-and-run help site: You probably won’t get the information you want on your first visits. By being nice and getting to know people you’ll gain their respect and friendship.
• a “how to build you own house” guide: we offer pieces of information and knowledge from our members. We are focused on building things yourself for your whole home. That includes everything from taking out the thrash to gardening to laying a foundation for you house.
• a place for building “regular”: We are interested in creating long-lasting homes that work. In my opinion many modern houses suck. That’s why I created this site. To build something different

What is Project Dreamhouse?

The place in which you live, also called home, is probably one of the most expensive investments you ever have. I personally am tired of companies creating products that don’t fill my needs. My life fills up with garbage because of it.

One day I hope to have my own playground. My own home where I can do things just the way I want to. It will be filled with only the stuff I need. Only stuff that I can use.

To build such monster all by myself would be crazy. Probably not even possible.

I believe that there are many like-minded people. My idea is to form a community for these people. A place where you can hang out, get to know the people, give and receive expertise on questions.
